„The Tales of Beleriand: The Land of Shadowmists” takes place in J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle-Earth, and we have tried our best to re-enact the details and specific elements of this world.
Beleriand is an area in the North-West of Middle-Earth, known by that name at the First Age. Here you can meet famous elf-lords, proud dwarfs, hasty men and shrewd henchmen of the Evil, all known from the Old Stories.
As "The Land of Shadowmists" is the last of our Beleriand LARP-series, we have planned (in addition to adventures and intrigues) a large fiest and a ball-styled (dance)party at the end of the second day. It is possible to wash and change clothes before the party.
It is the time of war between elves and the Dark Lord Morgoth. Morgoth has pulled back to his keep in Angband and is almost entirely besieged by elves. Even though, the Dark Lord has watched the dealings of humans with interest. His idea to use them as a tool against the elves hasn’t come true, and at the moment he is desparate to avoid the allegiance between elves and men.
But that allegiance is coming more and more true, as the Three Houses of men – House of Beor, House of Marach and House of Haleth – are approaching the land of the High King of Noldor, Fingolfin in Hithlum.
But the Houses have not been united themselves. As old Marach, let him rest in peace, used to say: "First you have to see with your own eyes – and our people and their wellness is most important. Rye and roofs above all!"
The Three Houses have come through dangerous places and their path has been covered in blood. It shall not be easy for them neither to stay and fight against the Dark Lord, neither to continue the journey.
It hasn’t been easy for the elves of Hithlum neither. The High King of Noldors, Fingolfin, foresees that the besiege is fruitless and wishes to conquer Angband, but so far only Angrod and Aegnor have supported him. Although the last big battle was long ago, many hearts are shadowed by the thought of approaching doom and it is clear that Morgoth will not always stay in defence position. There will be war.
Relations between the noldorin themselves are not simple either, nor is their past stainless. Words ‘Kinslaying’ and ‘curse’ are heavy and harsh, many would like to add ‘treachery’.
There are no simple and clear solutions. The best way must be found, but even then it might not lead to the light.
